Top Ten Tuesday | Top Books of 2023

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is the top 10 books I read in 2023. I read 200 books (exactly) and below are 12 of those books whittled down to ten and then ordered. I had a few surprises by doing it by favorite each month:

1) Though I did enjoy Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner, it was not on my mind as one of my top reads for 2023.

2) For some reason romcoms lost out completely (except for the one mentioned above and Hello Stranger) so I feel I should mention some stand out romcoms:

  • Love Theoretically and Check and Mate – both by Ali Hazelwood
  • Tilly in Technicolor by Mazey Eddings
  • The Love Plot by Samantha Young

3) From a total feeling standpoint – my top 3 would have been None of This is True, Fourth Wing, and Divine Rivals but just because of month read, Dreambound (an excellent book!) found itself in my top 3, which was a big surprise. But I will stand by it as it’s actually a more layered and poignant story than Fourth Wing.

10. Hello Stranger by Katherine Center

9. The Revenge List by Hannah Mary McKinnon

8. Long Past Dues by James J. Butcher

7.Dead Man’s Hand by James J. Butcher

6. Nobody Puts RomComs in the Corner by Kathryn Freeman

5. Inheritance by Nora Roberts (Romantasy)

4. Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros (fantasy)

3. Dreambound by Dan Frey (speculative fiction)

2. Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross (fantasy)

AND

1. None of This is True by Lisa Jewell (thriller)

What are some of your top ten reads for 2023?

I love the way you did this!!! It’s always so hard to choose! Divine Rivals is one I’m seeing everywhere & it’s been on my TBR cart for a while!

    1. Tessa Pulyer Avatar

You must read Divine Rivals. You will love it!

      1. Leslie Avatar

Yes, I hope to get to it this month! I’m so hyped up.

Fantastic to see None of this is True as your top read. I loved it too!

    1. Tessa Pulyer Avatar

I even loved it on audio which I never say!

  4. Janette Avatar

I really like doing my top reads by month. I find it much easier to pick one out of 20+ books rather than 10 out of 200. I haven’t read None of this is true which is weird as I usually read Lisa Jewell’s books as soon as they come out. Have a great reading year in 2024.

    1. Tessa Pulyer Avatar

You need to read or listen to it! It’s an excellent thriller!

  5. shanaqui Avatar

Ooh, I have a few of these on my list! I reaaaally need to get to Fourth Wing, clearly; everyone’s talking about it!

    My TTT.

    1. Tessa Pulyer Avatar

You will love Fourth Wing. It’s addictively intense.

A friend was just talking to me about None of This is True at a NYE party. She was listening to it on audio and was looking forward to her long drive back home this week so she could finish it. Happy New Year, Tessa!

    1. Tessa Pulyer Avatar

It is excellent on audio and that’s saying something coming from me. It’s such a good story!

  7. Jonetta | Blue Mood Café Avatar

Yeah, None of This is True will be on my list, too, along with Inheritance. Great list, Tessa, and thank you for Tilly as well💜

200 books?!?! Wow, Tessa, when do you find time to sleep, LOL.
I imagine it was dreadfully hard to whittle that amount down to just 10, and especially your favorite.
I’ve heard good things about Lisa Jewel’s book. Great list.
    Happy reading in 2024!
