WWW Wednesdays | My Bookish Week

Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived on Taking on a World of Words. The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading ?????

Which should I choose?
Review will be posted the last week of February.

I guess it might be a little odd knowing what I’m reading next but not knowing what I am currently reading. But, I have DNF’d the book that was here – at least for now. Soot by Dan Vyleta is a fantasy story that is coming out at the end of the month. After numerous times finding myself not really reading it (just sort of skimming, not digesting the words) I decided to put it aside.

BUT, I still need a book to review. So the picture is some of the books I’m considering:

The Killing Fog is my Amazon Prime First Reads pick this month. It is a fantasy story – (partial blurb) “Now the nobleman, and collector of rare artifacts, has entrusted Bingmei and the skilled team with a treacherous assignment: brave the wilderness’s dangers to retrieve the treasures of a lost palace buried in a glacier valley. But upsetting its tombs has a price.”

Why I’m thinking about choosing this one: I’ve read a lot of mysteries lately, so this will help balance out my month, and I will actually get to read my “First Read” selection – which is rare. They usually just sit on my virtual shelves waiting.

The Overdue Life of Amy Byler – One of my Kindle Unlimited choices, this is actually a rom-com and would provide a break from the normal for me. This sort of reset might be nice:

“A laugh-out-loud funny, pitch-perfect novel that will have readers rooting for this unlikely, relatable, and totally lovable heroine, The Overdue Life of Amy Byleris the ultimate escape—and will leave moms everywhere questioning whether it isn’t time for a #momspringa of their own.” —New York Journal of Books

Terry Goodkind novels – These are both book four in two different but related series. They are the only books I actually purchased last month. I know I will love them but not really sure I want to include them in a review on my blog since they are so far into their perspective series.

Have you, by chance, read any of these books? What did you think?

Just Finished

Genre: Mystery – police procedural
Review will be posted on 2/25/2020

Ten Days Gone flowed and kept me entertained but it was very hard to review and decide on a rating for. Unfortunately, I found the main characters completely unsympathetic and the plot was just meh. The support characters, though, intrigued me and were quite relatable.

Reading Next

Genre: Fantasy
Part of a blog tour through The Write Reads.
My review will be posted on 3/3/2020

My last book on a Write Reads blog tour was 5-star fantastic, so I’m really looking forward to this book. I just hope that I don’t build up expectations in my head to the point where I am disappointed. Just look at that cover though! Isn’t it beautiful ❤️?

I’m looking forward to reading The Venators too! Hope you enjoy all your current reads 🙂 Happy reading!

Every time I look at the cover, I just want to delve in 🙂

That’s too bad about Ten Days Gone. You know I just had a similar circumstance, and those books are so hard to rate.

I forget what I chose as my Amazon Prime First Read selection for the month. A lot of times, like you, I grab a book and it waits on my Kindle. Other times, I don’t download anything because nothing appeals, and then there are those wonderful times when I hit upon a true gem.

I just start reading Crooked River the newest Preston & Child Pendergast story. Only three chapters in and I am HOOKED!

Ooh! I’m sure Crooked River is fantastic! I haven’t picked up Preston & Child in a while but I do love the writing duo 🙂 Happy reading❣️

Your kindle photos look so cosy! Still need to select my Feb Kindle First Reads book, The Killing Fog does sound interesting but none of them really jumped out me.

Some months that happens to me too. I don’t see a fantasy novel among the choices very often, so that’s how and why I made my choice this month. 💜

I grabbed The Killing Fog off Amazon First Reads, too! It sounds like a good one. I’m usually not that interested in the books they offer for First Reads, so I was surprised and excited to see this one there! I’ll be picking up Venators soon, too, and I just can’t wait. <3 That cover is all kinds of gorgeous, and it just sounded wonderful.

I think it will probably be The Killing Fog that I start today and I’m listening to Overdue through kindles newish (?) read to you option. I don’t usually do audible but it’s a free option on this kindle unlimited book, so I tried it yesterday while I was walking and it went well. I think the fact that it’s relatable comedy helped. So it may be my exercise book.

An exercise book sounds perfect! I didn’t know Kindle had a read to you option. But then again, I don’t listen to audiobooks or anything, anyway. xD But if it’s an easy way to listen to books while you exercise, that’s a great idea!

I really want to read The Overdue Life of Amy Byler and I typically get heavily into Rom Com’s in February when all things are coming up hearts and flowers and the weather is…ick.

Have a great week! Here is my WWW: http://silverbuttonbooks.com/2020/02/05/www-wednesday-february-5-2020

I actually started listening to it yesterday. I usually can’t focus on audio books but it is so funny, I didn’t have any problem. I probably looked silly walking around the neighborhood and bursting out in laughter for seemingly no reason but that’s okay. 😊

Tessa, I’m afraid I haven’t read any of those books so can’t help with what your are currently reading! I hope you are able to settle on something soon! 😀

Here’s my WWW post for this week: https://thebookwormchronicles.wordpress.com/2020/02/05/www-wednesday-29th-january-2020-2/ Happy reading, whatever book it ends up being! 😉

I have ten days gone on my eshelf. Sorry it wasn’t better for you. I look forward to comparing thoughts 🙂

I definitely am curious what you think – once you read it. I really thought I would like it more, but that happens sometimes.
