The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.
Question:
What platform do you use for your blog?
(submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)
Answer:
I’ve always used WordPress though I’ve gone between .org and .com but that’s about as far as I’ve strayed. I like the theme options better on .org but I find the social part easier on .com.

I tried blogger too but you can’t follow blogs easily and you can’t like or comment on posts easily. It keeps asking to fill email addresses all the time.
That would definitely be a problem!
I was originally on Book Likes and before that very briefly on Weebly, but WP is the easiest for interaction. 😀
I find that too. ❤️
I have always been on wordpress. I hate it when other platforms make you fill stuff in etc … for every comment. So I can’t be doing stuff like that. WordPress seems easy and very accessible for the most part. So its got my vote
That’s been my experience when I try to comment on blogs that are using other platforms. It definitely dissuades someone from commenting.
It’s also really frustrating when a blog has the first 4 lines on their wordpress but a ‘click to continue reading’ link … very few people interest me enough to make that worthwhile
I 100% agree with you. I did .org for about a year and it was a disaster. I wasn’t easily found within the reader and the security issues were a nightmare for me. The initial setup was also very difficult. Now I’m back to .com and am much happier!
.com is much easier. I like it😊
I used Blogger for a short time waaaay back for something unrelated to writing and didn’t like it. Since I ventured into the world of publishing in 2012, I’ve been a WordPress gal.
I have my website on .org and my blog on .com, each mimicking the look of the other and each connected. That way I get all the bells and whistles/plug-ins on .org, while .com gives me ease for social interaction with blogging 🙂
I started to do that at one point with .org and .com but then I stopped and just worried about the .com one. But the way you do it is good ❤️
My book blog has always been on Blogger, and I’ve been happy with it. I was part of a group blog for a short while that used WordPress, and I didn’t care for it much. I was so used to Blogger at that point though–so it might have just been that it was different from what I was used to. I don’t know that I’ve ever paid attention to domain extensions like .com or .org. My blog address has a .com in it, but I am not tech savvy enough to know what that means. I hope you have a great week!
I wonder what the technical differences are between Blogger and WordPress. I may play around with it when I get bored ❤️
I tried blogspot and blogger but WP is easy in so many ways and the social interaction is much better
I wonder about others but I am generally happy with WordPress. I’m glad to hear you enjoy it better than others ☺️
I used blogger years ago but I much prefer WordPress – I think it is pretty user friendly 😀
Me too ❤️
Hi Tessa,
I originally started out on Blogger but got frustrated with the restrictions and was tempted away to WordPress.com with all their widgets, customisation options and formatting in 2017. However, as my blog’s grown over the last year or so, I wanted to be able to have more features on it and started looking at affordable alternatives. 😢 On 30th April I decided to go down the self-hosting route and found an affordable deal – Flora’s Musings is now a WP.org self-hosted blog! 💜😊 I know that as a WP.org blog, I won’t appear anymore on Reader so I’m going to have to figure something out.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your week, Tessa, stay safe and healthy.
Here’s my BBH Post

Hope your .org site works out as you want it to! All the best ❤️. Tessa
Thanks Tessa.💜 I’m learning on the job 😘
