The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Question:

What book series would you like to see adapted as a Netflix series?

(submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer

Answer:

That is both an easy and a hard question. Easy because any book I have loved, I would enjoy seeing made into a series. Hard because I would only want it done if it is done well. I currently enjoy a few that are not on Netflix – A Discovery of Witches on AMC+, His Dark Materials and Game of Thrones on HBO, and Jack Reacher on Amazon Prime. I, also, liked Witcher which I believe was on Netflix, though I never read those books.

What hasn’t been made that I would like to see made?

The first book/series that comes to mind is one I just discovered – Orphan X by Gregg Hurwitz. What an amazing action/adventure show that would be, though I feel like it’s cheating picking this one because I think the author mentioned that it actually is being made into a Netflix series during a virtual release day event that I popped into. I can’t wait to see it, but I imagine those things take time to finalize and get into production.

The book(s) I would like to see that I haven’t heard anything about this already being in progress is The Gilded Wolves trilogy/series by Roshani Chokshi. The only thing I worry about is that it would not be done to my satisfaction. It really needs the right actors, the right special effects and a high production quality. I have seen others adaptations done very well though, so I’m sure they could do the book(s) justice.

Oh… I don’t have any of those. In fact I need rec for those series from books. I hardly watch TV so no idea. I have a prime and Netflix subscription. Don’t ask me why… If I don’t watch them

I have subscriptions like that too. I imagine we all do. You read so much, I’m not surprised that you don’t watch tv 😊

One of my Goodreads groups read a series (just 2 books so far) and felt so strongly about its promise as a TV series we tweeted our suggestion to Netflix! It’s Alice Vega by Louisa Luna and everybody would watch this.

I would watch it! Excellent choice and I love that you tweeted the suggestion to Netflix.

If I were to further promote NY authors (like they need the help), I’d like to see J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood on Netflix. If I’d we’re talking indie authors, I can think of a few who would do well on Netflix. Mae Clair wrote a great trilogy about the Mothman that she calls her Point Pleasant series. (She has another series called Hode’s Hill that would also be pretty cool to see; it’s a dual timeline and is pretty creepy.) Chris Niles has an ongoing adventure/mystery series set in Shark Key that would look beautiful and at times is high octane. And D. Wallace Peach has a great fantasy series I’m just starting that I already know is amazing called Unraveling the Veil.

Mae’s and Diana’s stories would be wonderful on Netflix. I could definitely see the Hode’s Hill playing out on screen and the vibrant world of Diana’s new series would make a stunning adaptation. I loved both of those series ❤️

Hello Tessa. I’d like to see a series of the book “Never Let Me Go” by Kazuo Ishiguro. There was a movie about 10 years ago which I didn’t see, but there is so much to this book I think it would be better served by a series.

Another great choice! I didn’t catch the movie either but I could see where it would be a good series. The book description alone is super compelling.

Oooh – The Gilded Wolves would be an excellent choice, but I agree it would have to be done right. Have you seen the cover for the third book? Exquisite.

I have. It is so beautiful. I can’t wait to add it to my shelves ❤️

Fab question! I’d love to see The Switch and The Thursday Murder Club but only if they have Alison Steadman as Eileen because she narrated the audiobook perfectly!

That sounds good. I would definitely watch both of those ❤️

There are quite a few books I would love to see turned into a TV series but I would be so disappointed if they weren’t done well. Your comment about actors, special effects etc is so true.

      It is so very important!

I would watch an Orphan X series for sure. There is so much to the series. I would love to see Dear Emmie Blue as a mini-series.
