Happy 4th to all of us in the US!

This weekend is a full one for me. The girls are home with their cats – so, 4 people and 5 cats. Five indoor cats really ups the amount of time it takes for care and feeding, since all that falls mostly to me. And my Maine Coon princess (Josie) hates my daughters’ cats, though Theo (my orange tabby fluff ball) loves them. It makes for very interesting dynamics.
Today, we are taking a “family trip” to Ikea to purchase some items for the girls new apartment, and I’m going to look for items for the house to replace what’s being taken, i.e. beds. Then late in the afternoon is the town 4th of July parade which is just town members who want to dress up in red, white, and blue walking through downtown behind the fire truck. The first year we went, we were expecting a more traditional parade and boy, were we surprised when it was just fellow town members walking. 🤣
There are no fireworks – I have no idea why they never do fireworks – but the night will end with a concert on the green – the green is a large grassy area in front of the library right on Main Street. Everybody brings camp chairs and blankets and the band sets up directly in front of the library. This year’s band plays what they call “Yacht Rock” and their band name is Thurston Howell – I kid you not. I even provided a YouTube clip so you can enjoy a small dose.

The girls wanted to watch Luca on Disney+ because they hadn’t had a chance to watch it yet. It was a pretty cute movie. It’s about two sea monsters who want to experience the human world, and has great themes like the true meaning of freedom, the importance of family, and the power of acceptance.

Happy 4th of July! 🎆 (There should be fireworks 😄)
There should always be fireworks!
Happy 4th of July Tessa! I hope you have a fun day and the cats don’t get too problematic for you!
Thank you! Luckily we have three floors and they tend to spread out.
Happy 4th and have a great time today!
Thank you! ❤️
Happy 4th of July! 5 indoor cats in the house where some of them don’t get along – can’t imagine what that must be like. Hope you get a lovely day with your family! 😊
Luckily we have 3 floors so plenty of room to spread and they do spread. It’s only first thing in the morning and the evening that tend to be problematic when they all want to be in one room.
I read an ARC of A Familiar Sight. What are the chances I finally get a Prime membership and have already read one of the books? I guess I will find out how often it happens! Happy July 4th.
I haven’t had that happen yet but there are many good choices this month. So, hopefully you will find another good choice. ❤️
Happy 4th of July to you, your girls and all those cats. That band is awesome, they play all my favourites. I have never heard of it referred to as Yacht Music. Have a great weekend and enjoy your upcoming reads.
They play music my husband and I enjoy too but I’ve never heard it called Yacht Rock or whatever 🤷🏻♀️
Enjoy your girls and their cats, Tessa💜 I can really “hear” you’re really glad they’re there despite the chaos. It’s so cool you have a Main Coon cat, the only breed I’ve connected to. They really behave so similarly to dogs. I’m so envious of your trip to IKEA, which used to be my kryptonite. I haven’t been in a store in years because I can’t be trusted😏
Enjoy your 4th 🇺🇸
Always happy to have them home. My oldest asked me if I was getting tired of having them home so much to which I replied, “I’m your mom.” That says it all, doesn’t it? And you’d think we’d go to IKEA more since it’s so close but we don’t. I really like their stuff too.
Hope you had a great 4th of July.
Thank you! ❤️
Happy 4th! I love IKEA but you could spend days in that place and never see it all.
Right? It’s so big with so much that just begs to be explored.
Happy Fourth, Tessa. Sorry about no fireworks, but the concert sounds like fun. Enjoy having the girls (and cats) home. Have a lovely holiday. 🙂
Happy 4th! I hope yours is wonderful too ❤️
I can’t imagine how you’re handling 5 cats along with everything else! I want watch Luca. It looks amazing 😍
You’ll love Luca! ❤️. Three floors worth of house definitely helps with the cats. They tend to stay spread out for most of the day.
Happy 4th of July. I’ve been looking at Six Crimson Cranes on Netgalley so seeing you rate it 5 stars has me really wanting to request it.
It is truly so good! One of the best stories I’ve read this year.
I keep telling my husband I want a Maine Coon. It likely will never happen, but one can dream. 🙂 I hope you have a nice weekend with your daughters. Sounds like you have a nice 4th of July planned. It’ll be just another quiet Sunday for us until the neighbors start shooting off their illegal fireworks. I love the cover of Edgewood. It sounds good too. I haven’t selected an Amazon Prime book yet–so many sound tempting. We watched Luca recently too and really enjoyed it. I hope you have a great week!
Illegal fireworks are the worst. We live in NC near the border with SC. It’s illegal here but not in SC, so most people cross the border and get them. Late tonight it will be very noisy.
Hope the kitties all get along and you enjoy the walking “parade.” LOL! I think we’re going to watch Luca today or tomorrow, so I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it!
You are going to love Luca! And doesn’t that parade just crack you up? I know it does us.
Happy 4th to you and your family as well!
Thank you!
Sounds like you had a herd to feed and water this weekend, Tessa, lol. We took our son to Ikea for the first time in Austin and he was like a kid in a candy store. He adored it and has since made another trip with his roommates.
The girls always like it too. We’ve had one here in Charlotte for a while now.
