Think you know the person you married? Think again…
Things have been wrong with Mr and Mrs Wright for a long time. When Adam and Amelia win a weekend away to Scotland, it might be just what their marriage needs. Self-confessed workaholic and screenwriter Adam Wright has lived with face blindness his whole life. He can’t recognize friends or family, or even his own wife.
Every anniversary the couple exchange traditional gifts – paper, cotton, pottery, tin – and each year Adam’s wife writes him a letter that she never lets him read. Until now. They both know this weekend will make or break their marriage, but they didn’t randomly win this trip. One of them is lying, and someone doesn’t want them to live happily ever after.
Ten years of marriage. Ten years of secrets. And an anniversary they will never forget.
Rock Paper Scissors is the latest exciting domestic thriller from the queen of the killer twist, New York Times bestselling author Alice Feeney.
Enola Holmes is so much fun. Whoever thought of giving Sherlock Holmes a little sister is brilliant. And, Mastermind blew my mind. It’s what you get when you take a techno thriller and combine it with crime and medical (biological) thrillers then add in more than a dash of illusion magic. Whew! I’m sure you get the picture.
Enola Holmes and the Black Barouche by Nancy Springer
Genre: YA Mystery

Enola Holmes is the much younger sister of her more famous brothers, Sherlock and Mycroft. But she has all the wits, skills, and sleuthing inclinations of them both. At fifteen, she’s an independent young woman–after all, her name spelled backwards reads ‘alone’–and living on her own in London. When a young professional woman, Miss Letitia Glover, shows up on Sherlock’s doorstep, desperate to learn more about the fate of her twin sister, it is Enola who steps up. It seems her sister, the former Felicity Glover, married the Earl of Dunhench and per a curt note from the Earl, has died. But Letitia Glover is convinced this isn’t the truth, that she’d know–she’d feel–if her twin had died.
The Earl’s note is suspiciously vague and the death certificate is even more dubious, signed it seems by a John H. Watson, M.D. (who denies any knowledge of such). The only way forward is for Enola to go undercover–or so Enola decides at the vehement objection of her brother. And she soon finds out that this is not the first of the Earl’s wives to die suddenly and vaguely–and that the secret to the fate of the missing Felicity is tied to a mysterious black barouche that arrived at the Earl’s home in the middle of the night. To uncover the secrets held tightly within the Earl’s hall, Enola is going to require help–from Sherlock, from the twin sister of the missing woman, and from an old friend, the young Viscount Tewkesbury, Marquess of Basilwether!

A mysterious electrical storm plunges Manhattan into darkness. As a strange, smothering fog rolls in, all communication crashes. In the blink of an eye, the island seems to vanish into a void.
FBI special agent Jessica Blackwood and brilliant scientist Dr. Theo Cray know this isn’t a freak accident. It’s a sinister sleight of hand. Their greatest adversary, a serial killer and cultist known as the Warlock, has escaped during a prison transfer in New York. A depraved master of manipulation, he promised the end of days. He’s making good on it.
One by one, cities across the globe are erupting in chaos as they disappear into the same black holes. Even for two ingenious trackers like Jessica and Theo, there’s still so much to learn about the pattern to the Warlock’s madness. The voids are just a warm-up for something bigger. To discover it—to stop it—Jessica and Theo must descend into the darkest of shadows—and minds.
I’m reading The Dating Game for a Rachel’s Random Resources blog tour. I enjoyed a Christmas-themed story by Sandy Barker last year so I’m hopeful that I will like this story as well.

Once upon a time, twelve women joined the hottest reality TV show looking for love. Except one had a secret identity . . .
Abby Jones is a serious writer. Or at least she will be, one day. Right now, she spends her time writing recaps of reality television under a secret identity.
When a recap for The Stag – the must-watch dating show – goes viral, her editor thinks she should be on set, writing the drama as it happens. The good news: the next season will be filmed in Sydney. Sun, sea and a glamorous trip abroad, this could be Abby’s big break.
The bad news: the producers don’t just want Abby to write the recaps, they want her to be on the show. Abby can’t think of anything worse than being undercover and followed around by cameras. But her career depends on it, and when she meets gorgeous producer Jack, Abby begins to wonder if this job might not be so bad after all . . .
What are you reading this week? Anything that you’re particularly excited about?
Whoa, those thrillers all sound amazing?! I have one Alice Feeney book and I still have yet to read it but this one sounds even more intense (in the best way)! Mastermind also sounds like nothing I’ve ever read before so I will definitely be checking these titles out. Hope you enjoy The Dating Game (looks cute)! Happy reading 🙂
I am reading Kathy Reich’s book Virals. A story about Temperance Brennan’s younger cousin. It is really good. On the good news front, I got a job as a teaching assistant at a secondary school near me. Looking forward to the new challenges ahead. All those books sound amazing, but I am struggling reading a chapter. Not because the book isn’t any good, but I seem to have not enough hours in the day.
Congratulations! I imagine you have a lot on your mind with starting a new job soon. It would cause me not to be able to get anywhere with my reading ❤️
I’ve had Rock, Paper, Scissors in for request with NetGalley for a few weeks now and am still waiting on approval. I’m crossing my fingers as I’d really like to read that one.
I just finished Bloodless, the Pendergast novel and started a new Ellie Jordan ghost trapper book last night,
The publisher is doing a blog tour with Rock, Paper, Scissors that they organized- I wonder if this impacts requests. 🤷🏻♀️. If it’s as good as I hear – hope you get to read it!
I also have Rock, Paper, Scissors to read, but have been hoping for an audiobook. Right now I am listening to The Last House on Needless Street. It is very different, not sure yet. Enjoy your upcoming reads, Tessa.
Those first three books sound great. I watched the Enola Holmes movie on Netflix (I think) and thought it was pretty good. I didn’t realize it was based on a series of books.
Those thrillers sound soooo good. I’m wondering how face blindness will work itself into the plot. I almost requested Enola Holmes – loved the movie – and now I’m wondering why I didn’t.

If NG doesn’t approve me, I’ll probably purchase it when it’s released. It sounds so good!

I have Last House too. You have me even more curious about it than I already was. Hope it gets better for you!

It is and this book picks up where the movie left off. So fun!
Looking forward to your review of Rock Paper Scissors!
I’m definitely looking forward to reading it ❤️
The Dating Game looks good. I hope it doesn’t glamorize these type shows too much.
I hope not either. I kind of like when stories poke fun at them.
