The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Have you been listening to virtual author events?
(submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

One of the actual good things to come out of the pandemic, in my opinion, is the explosion of free virtual author events, and I have attended so many. I usually post about the ones I know about on my Sunday post if I have any to share.
Where can you find these events?
If you know an author’s got a book coming out, first try a google search. You can also try a search on Facebook.
Another good resource is Eventbrite. It alerts me to many events.
If you know certain bookstores that do a lot of virtual author events, just save their website and check monthly or follow them on social media. Brookline Booksmiths is one that’s had a lot recently.
Something going on every Wednesday this month that I just found out about is Tor Forge’s February of Forge – the link is here:

Have you been to any virtual events?

I have been to one for Silenced by Jennie Ensor. To be honest I find them quite hard as my daughter is usually around when they are on, & she likes to make herself known on camera 🤣
Awww…that’s so cute. I know it’s probably a bit frustrating as the mom but it’s cute if your not 😊
No, I don’t like them. Find out why in my hop 🙂
I look forward to reading yours ❤️
No, I haven’t gone to any virtual events, but many a zoom meeting for Slimming World last year.
That sounds cool!
I haven’t yet, but I just signed up to one yesterday for the end of the month!
For anyone interesting? I hope you enjoy it!
I can’t remember but I think so, it’s a crime one!
❤️❤️❤️
Although I’ve done a virtual author event myself, I haven’t caught many. Tessa, you were the one who pointed me in the direction of the Riley Sager and Taylor Adams event which I really enjoyed, and I listened in on a podcast with another. I know virtual events are becoming more common.
It’s nice to be able to have that access from anywhere. I’ve been to in-person talks with book signings which are much like the virtual events but my ability to go is contingent on it happening close by.
I haven’t been to any author events. I had not heard of Eventbrite, I’m going to check it out.
You definitely should. Most of what I’ve been attending lately has been through there.
I attended a super enjoyable one with Harlan Coben and Michael J. Fox – even hubby watched it. I’ve also done a few others, but that one sticks out the most. Thanks for the heads up about the others, Tessa!
That does sound fun. My husband often watches the ones I attend. Sometimes I even put it on the tv by using my iPad and the mirror screen feature.
I love a virtual author event and you’re so right, it is one good thing to come out of the pandemic! I’m going to one on Wednesday for Bloomsbury and can’t wait!
Anyone interesting?
They are all debut authors. I’ve got an IG post about it if you want to swing on over (in my stories too!) ❤
They don’t seem to be as popular in the UK but I will definitely try finding some to attend.
Huh…that’s interesting. I wonder why that is.
I haven’t attended any but I wish to.
I really enjoy them ❤️. Hope you get to attend one!
I did attend a couple of live events, but overall, I caught several on YouTube after the fact. They were still very interesting and engaging.
Definitely!
