As usual, I’m starting Mickey 7 by Edward Ashton today. I think it looks very interesting and early reviews have been largely 4-5 star positive. I can’t wait to delve in.

On a fairly routine scouting mission, Mickey7 goes missing and is presumed dead. By the time he returns to the colony base, surprisingly helped back by native life, Mickey7’s fate has been sealed. There’s a new clone, Mickey8, reporting for Expendable duties. The idea of duplicate Expendables is universally loathed, and if caught, they will likely be thrown into the recycler for protein.
Mickey7 must keep his double a secret from the rest of the colony. Meanwhile, life on Niflheim is getting worse. The atmosphere is unsuitable for humans, food is in short supply, and terraforming is going poorly. The native species are growing curious about their new neighbors, and that curiosity has Commander Marshall very afraid. Ultimately, the survival of both lifeforms will come down to Mickey7.
That is, if he can just keep from dying for good.
The End of Getting Lost by Robin Kirman was a story where psychological manipulations reigned supreme. I liked this story and it held my attention, but I can’t say that I loved it. Simon & Schuster moved up the publication date on this one making my already tight reading schedule even worst. I’m so glad I double check NetGalley every once in a while for publication date changes.

Bright Ruined Things is my second book by Samantha Cohoe. I enjoyed her first one and have high hopes for enjoying this one. I especially love that it’s a Tempest retelling. Early reviews have been mostly positive so far.

I like the look of The End of Getting Lost. I remember 1997, and it sounds a bit sinister.
It is set purposefully before cell phones became common and it is very sinister. Crazy people!

I think the hardest thing on audio will be how it shifts timelines all over the place and hopefully there are different narrators – one for the wife and one for the husband because they each have their own chapters and their “voices” are not very unique to the character. I’ll be curious to see how the audio goes.
