What am I currently reading?
What did I just finish?
What am I reading next?
So far, The Spa Break has been funny and reflective. Since I’m much younger than the women in the story, it’s been interesting for me to contemplate if I will have any of them same regrets. I hope not!
Genre: RomCom
Pages: 308 pages
Publisher: One More Chapter (Harper Collins)
Publication Date: April 15, 2022
A weekend at the spa will leave four old friends with a whole lot more than they’d bargained for…
The glossy brochure promised a serene experience of total tranquility and rejuvenation, but what best friends Bridgette, Emily, Serena and Marjory get is a weekend that upends their lives!
There for a girls’ weekend to celebrate Bridgette’s impending seventieth birthday, the spa soon has these spicy sexagenarians realizing that there are unexpected benefits to age and experience, and that over the hill certainly doesn’t mean out of the game…in any respect…
The Devil’s Dictionary (book 2) was worlds better than Last Tango in Cyberspace (book 1), but they are both very interesting sci-fi thrillers especially since the author uses technology that is in the works today as the base of the stories.
Genre: Sci-Fi Thriller
Pages: 333 and 324
Publisher: St. Martin’s Press
Publication Date: May 14, 2019, and April 19, 2022
Last Tango in Cyberspace: It was a new skill…
One that might change the world.
What could a person do who could track empathy?
His friends call him Lion, he is the first of his kind. Some describe it as emotional foresight, but
really, he can see cultural trends before they emerge. What he didn’t expect was for Big
Pharma to come calling.
In 2025, technology has made massive leaps forward.
Not every group wants to use it for good.
Artic Pharmaceuticals has a new drug and a bad idea. They call on Lion, because he is the key to
getting the formula they need. But when he starts to sense their hidden agenda, will they take
drastic action?
Then Lion discovers a decapitated human head…
Is he being hunted?
Can he stop a global disaster?
You’ll love this edge-of-your seat cyberpunk thriller, because it will keep you turning the pages
late into the night.
AND!
The Devil’s Dictionary: Hard to say exactly when the human species fractured. Harder to say when this new talent arrived. But Lion Zorn, protagonist of Last Tango in Cyberspace, is the first of his kind—an empathy tracker, an emotional forecaster, with a felt sense for how culture evolves and the future arrives.
It’s also a useful skill in today’s competitive business market.
In The Devil’s Dictionary, when a routine em-tracking job goes sideways and em-trackers themselves start disappearing, Lion finds himself not knowing who to trust in a life and death race to uncover the truth. And when the trail leads to the world’s first mega-linkage, a continent-wide national park advertised as the best way to stave off environmental collapse, and exotic animals unlike any on Earth start showing up—Lion’s quest for truth becomes a fight for the survival of the species.
Packed with intrigue and heart-pounding action, marked by unforgettable characters and vivid storytelling, filled with science-based brilliance and cult comic touches, The Devil’s Dictionary is Steven Kotler at his thrilling science fiction best.
A psychological thriller featuring identical twins – is anyone actually wondering why I grabbed the I’ll Be You widget quickly when Random House sent it to me? I think the question would be more like, why have you waited so long before reading it? 😊
Genre: Psychological Thriller
Pages: 348 pages
Publisher: Random House
Publication Date: April 26, 2022
Two identical twin sisters and former child actors have grown apart—until one disappears, and the other is forced to confront the secrets they’ve kept from each other in this twisty suspense novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Pretty Things. “You be me, and I’ll be you,” I whispered.
As children, Sam and Elli were two halves of a perfect whole: gorgeous identical twins whose parents sometimes couldn’t even tell them apart. They fell asleep to the sound of each other’s breath at night, holding hands in the dark. And once Hollywood discovered them, they became B-list child TV stars, often inhabiting the same role.
But as adults, their lives have splintered. After leaving acting, Elli reinvented herself as the perfect homemaker: married to a real estate lawyer, living in a house just blocks from the beach. Meanwhile, Sam has never recovered from her failed Hollywood career, or from her addiction to the pills and booze that have propped her up for the last fifteen years.
Sam hasn’t spoken to her sister since her destructive behavior finally drove a wedge between them. So when her father calls out of the blue, Sam is shocked to learn that Elli’s life has been in turmoil: her husband moved out, and Elli just adopted a two-year-old girl. Now she’s stopped answering her phone and checked in to a mysterious spa in Ojai. Is her sister just decompressing, or is she in trouble? Could she have possibly joined a cult? As Sam works to connect the dots left by Elli’s baffling disappearance, she realizes that the bond between her and her sister is more complicated than she ever knew.
I’ll Be You shows Janelle Brown at the top of her game: a story packed with surprising revelations and sharp insights about the choices that define our families and our lives—and could just as easily destroy them
I’ll Be You sounds intriguing, as do the sci-fi novels. Every now and then, I like a change of genre like that. 🙂
I’m currently reading The Safe Place by Anna Downes and wow, is it good. I probably would have finished it last night in one sitting if I didn’t have to call it a night and go to bed!

I like the sound of the spa break 💕
It’s a lot of fun 🤩
I’ll be you is also on my TBR. I hope it doesn’t turn out like those twin thrillers where one twin is evil.
Hmmm…I guess I’ll find out soon 🤔
