#BookBloggerHop | When Do I Post My Reviews

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Do you post your reviews before publication day or wait until close to or on publication date?

(submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

I try to post ARC reviews around the publication date. Usually within a week before or a week after and some get posted on the publication date – it just depends on how my schedule is looking since I try to give each review it’s own post and I prefer to only post once per day. I read somewhere that this is the time period considered optimum for promoting books, but then others say on or after publication date. I’m mostly in this area.

Currently, I’m working very hard (by showing great restraint) in keeping time in my schedule to read the many books I have bought. In those cases, the reviews will just be posted as I finish and my calendar allows.

This post could have been written by me! I always try fr a week either side of publication day but sometimes I just have too much going on and can’t manage it

I didn’t realize how many of us do that. ❤️

I post a week before the publication date if possible, I’m the same though trying to reduce my plan to read some books
    I have bought soon 😊

      Wouldn’t that be nice?

I’m really good at publishing on or as close as possible to publication date for blog tour reviews. Netgalley ARC’s are a different story though! I’ve been putting more of an effort this year into trying to get to as many as I can in a timely manner but there are so many books and just not enough time haha

Lol. I know how that is. NetGalley is just too tempting.

    Same 😄

So many of us do it that way. I love it!

I generally post my reviews publicly on or fairly soon after publication day. I do sometimes combine reviews especially if I’ve read several in the same genre.

If I have too many, I combine them too. I try not to do more than two though, otherwise people have thought I was making a list rather than reviewing.

I try to post as near publication date as I can. But, I’ve seriously cut back on ARCs in an attempt to read my massive shelf. Most of mine are tied to blog tours anyway.

My shelves are so full! I admire your restraint with ARCs.

It depends on the book and whether I liked it or not. I try to do it for around publication Day but I’m not bothered if I don’t and nor it seem does NetGalley. 😂

    1. Lady Tessa Avatar

That is good to know. I always worry about that.

I don’t exactly follow publication date unless I have signed up for tour or publisher ha sent widget earlier with enough time to read. I’m not getting paid nor there is any obligation to chase publication date. I have learned that hard way and by reading book when I’m in mood or have time makes it more enjoyable.

I love your thoughts on this. I probably should be more like that.

I post them on Goodreads when I finish, Amazon and B&N on the pub date, and then on my blog as close as I can to the pub date. I try to keep to a schedule of two reviews/week on my blog, but lately that hasn’t worked – too many reviews waiting. Have a great weekend, Tessa!

    1. Lady Tessa Avatar

That sounds exactly like I do.

I try to do it the same way. Great minds think alike. 🙂

      Exactly! 😊

I try to post reviews on or close to publication day if they are ARCS. I read a lot of books, okay most of them, after publication, so I post them when I get a chance to review them. I will group reviews, because I often have several to post at the same time. Of course all blog tours are individual books.

    1. Lady Tessa Avatar

You do read lots of books. I’m always in awe of that!

      1. Carla Avatar

Thanks Tessa. My favourite past time.

ahhhh i LOVED reading this!! also, all the photos look gorgeous AND I AM OBSESSED 😍😍 i don’t usually post reviews on my blog, but whenever i do, its usually whenever i finish the book because most of the ones i read are backlist titles!

When I was out-of-work and working part-time, I was able to post my reviews as close to the release dates as I could. Now that I’m working full-time, I’m just trying to complete reading the books by the release date.

      I know what you mean!
