I’m halfway in and Her Darkest Secret is so good. A serial killer with Dissociative Identity Disorder is on the loose and he has the main character, Special Agent Fiona Kelly (better known as the one that got away) in his crosshairs. What’s not to love about that? It has an interesting Christian minor plot thread but I’m not sure what to make of that if anything yet.
Genre: Psychological Thriller / Serial Killer Thriller
When a cold-case serial killer returns, FBI special agent Fiona Kelly has one last chance to stop him before he claims the prize he’s always wanted—her.
The sight of a goose feather at a murder scene modeled after a children’s poem is enough to make FBI special agent Fiona Kelly’s blood turn to ice. Almost two decades ago, a feather was left with her sister’s body—and with every subsequent victim of the Nursery Rhyme Killer. Now he’s back. Only this time, his latest gruesome murder is a message to the only one who ever got away: Fiona.
Finding “Rhyme” is an obsession that’s fueled Fiona’s career—and destroyed her marriage to fellow FBI agent Asa Kodiak. Now Fiona and Asa have to put their past tensions aside and work together one last time. But Rhyme is watching, and catching this killer may force Fiona to reveal her biggest, darkest secret…the one only he knows.
Take A Chance on Greece is such a fun and lovely story with a marvelous setting. I have to say that I enjoyed my book vacation on a Greek Isle.
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Pages: 306 pages
Publisher: One More Chapter (Harper Collins)
Publication Date: July 1, 2022
When Lydia wakes up after a wild night out in Kefalonia with a tattoo saying ‘Awesome Andreas’, she’s mortified. She doesn’t remember meeting anyone called Andreas. And after all, she’s an accountant with a five-year plan. She’s definitely not a party girl.
The sensible thing to do would be to research how to get the tattoo removed and move on with her safe and steady life. But she’s had enough of being predictable.
Instead, Lydia decides to track down the mysterious Andreas, but the path to true love is never simple. As she goes from one disastrous date to another, she starts to lose hope in ever finding him. Perhaps Lydia is looking in the wrong places, and the right man for her is just next door, if only she’d take a chance on him . . .
I am curious about This Vicious Grace by Emily Thiede. I’ve heard wonderful things about it and that description! It sounds like it has a lot of thriller qualities to it that I will enjoy.
Genre: YA Fantasy
Pages: 448 pages
Publisher: Wednesday Books
Publication Date: June 28, 2022
Emily Thiede’s exciting fantasy debut, This Vicious Grace, will keep readers turning the pages until the devastating conclusion and leave them primed for more!
Three weddings. Three funerals. Alessa’s gift from the gods is supposed to magnify a partner’s magic, not kill every suitor she touches.
Now, with only weeks left until a hungry swarm of demons devours everything on her island home, Alessa is running out of time to find a partner and stop the invasion. When a powerful priest convinces the faithful that killing Alessa is the island’s only hope, her own soldiers try to assassinate her.
Desperate to survive, Alessa hires Dante, a cynical outcast marked as a killer, to become her personal bodyguard. But as rebellion explodes outside the gates, Dante’s dark secrets may be the biggest betrayal. He holds the key to her survival and her heart, but is he the one person who can help her master her gift or destroy her once and for all?
“Remixing all the best parts of a dark fantasy and a romantic comedy, This Vicious Grace is a wonderfully fun time from start to finish, with lush, complex worldbuilding, intensely relatable characters, and relationships that are easy to root for.” —Hannah Whitten, New York Times bestselling author of For The Wolf.
I’m halfway through The Final Strife and about 10% into This Vicious Grace, and so far both are a big thumbs up for me. I sure wouldn’t mind a book vacation to Greece!
