What would the title of your autobiography be? Plus, Weekly Updates #BookBloggerHop #bookish #discussionpost

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book-related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blogs.

What would the title of your autobiography be?

(submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

There are two that I have always thought would be the perfect title for my autobiography: Rebel Without A Cause – because I have always been rebellious for no reason what so ever. Tell me I can’t do something and I will have an overwhelming urge to do it and, a long as it’s not something illegal, I do. But I looked up other books with that title and they are about much different people than I am – one being a non-fiction book about a psychopath 🫣. I’m not a rebel to that degree.

The other title, which says the same thing to me (rebelliousness) but in a metaphor, is something my best friend and I used to say to each other all the time when we were growing up: Sky Blue Pink With Purple Polka Dots. I’m not sure where we first heard that but I did a google search and it is an expression often used sincerely or sarcastically. Of course, my autobiography with that title would have to contain a great deal of sarcasm because that’s me!

What would the title of your autobiography be?

As part of my Mother’s Day gifts a few weeks ago, my younger daughter bought me Zinnias. What we didn’t know is that they are very popular with Goldfinches and we apparently have some in the area. I had never seen a Goldfinch before but the male is a beautiful yellow color. We have a male/female pair hanging out enjoying the Zinnia’s. This particular plant hasn’t been doing very well but it’s not stopping Mr. Goldfinch.

My younger daughter bought her car last weekend, so all that stressful car stuff is done. This is the same daughter that is a 911 operator (which her psychology degree has been extremely useful for – surprisingly or maybe not). After working 911 calls for the last 6 months, she has now progressed to Dispatcher training – the people who radio the policeman to instruct them where they need to go and what they are responding to. As part of that training, she got to go on a couple of calls with the police helicopter. Below is a video she took of downtown Charlotte, NC from that helicopter. I thought it was an excellent aerial view of our city, so I’m excited to share it with you all.

Haha that rebel without a cause is so relatable! and can I just say you have such amazing daughters?!

What a gorgeous goldfinch! I love the video of Charlotte, fantastic that she got to go in the police helicopter!

It was a lot of fun for her. 😊

Love both titles of your autobiography. I get that feeling. I’m more ‘mess with me and you’ll regret’ than rebellious but I have that too in me.love that aerial view.

How lovely seeing the Goldfinches, and I’m glad your daughter is doing well. Hope you have a lovely week 💕

The goldfinches are totally new to me. They are so vibrantly colored.

I’m afraid that mine would be called “Much to do about nothing”. For a biography you need someone who was in one way or another socially significant. The world is really not waiting for a biography of another Joe Bloggs or Jane Doe.

I like the purple polka dots title. I’m tempted to get some zinnias now!

I never knew that they were a draw for goldfinches.

Love the titles of your biography. I’ve got no idea what I’d choose as my life isn’t over yet, and hopefully the best is yet to come!😂 That goldfinch is gorgeous, and the video is great, thanks for sharing both of them!

      I love that title!

I did not know you lived so close to Charlotte! I worked there for several years, commuting back to Greensboro on the weekends. Lived in the pink building during the week. Small world.

Your daughter seems to be thriving in her job! You’ve much to be proud about and I hope she’s feeling good about herself. I watch a lot of true crime and what she does is so critical.

Yes, I’m avoiding the question. Maybe “I Gave My All?” No matter what I take on, I give it 100%, which is why this year’s been so tough. My hubby’s health issues had me dropping lots of balls recently as I devote 100% to him.

We used to live in North Charlotte near the University area but moved more into the Lake Norman area and closer to my youngest’s school (when she was still in HS) 6 or 7 years ago. Both my husband and my daughter work in the city now.

I hope your husband’s health improves. That’s got to be tough for both of you. I went to a talk once where they talked about how to look at all the balls we all juggle – realize that they are made of different things. Some are made of rubber and if you drop them, they will bounce, others are also made to be durable. It’s the fragile ones- the ones made of glass – that we need to take special care with. So it’s okay to let the rubber ones and the other durable ones drop if it means protecting the fragile ones. I’ve always remembered that talk.

Thank you for sharing that wisdom. It matters💜

Yay for your daughter, Tessa! So cool she rode in the police helicopter. For an autobiography – maybe Right Place, Right Time. Sometimes things just seem to work out for me because of it. Same with Son #2 – maybe it’s a genetic thing. Have a great weekend!

I’m a firm believer that things work out if you’re open to new experiences. My life has always gone that way as well.

Mine would probably be Chaos 🤣

Survived and Footprints in the Sand. Survived because of the song I sang, when I was bullied and Footprints in the sand because it reminds me of my Dad.

    1. Tessa Pulyer Avatar

      That is so touching! 🥲

I like your autobiography titles, Tessa. Lol. I’m amazed that you even have one, let alone two! And that’s exciting about your daughter. What a stressful job, though. It sounds like she’s doing well and that helicopter ride must have been thrilling. 🙂

    1. Tessa Pulyer Avatar

She’s learning a lot about people doing this job. It’s definitely been a growth experience for her.

My autobiography? Hmm… maybe “Wasted Time”

    1. Tessa Pulyer Avatar

I’m sure your life has been full of un-wasted time.
