The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book-related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blogs.

What questions would you ask any author if you had the chance?
(submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

I have such a hard time thinking of questions. I’m always like, “tell me what you want me to know.” As a counselor I’m very skilled at listening and at getting people to talk more and more by just listening and using short sentences like, “Tell me more,” that really get people talking. When I first started my counseling training, I didn’t believe that things like that work but they really do. So when it comes to thinking of questions, my brain goes blank. That’s not in my wheelhouse. 😂
Some questions that are nice to hear the answer to:
- What inspired you to write this book?
- What character do you like the most/least and why?
- Are any of the characters based on real people? (Tell me more about that 😂)
- What was the most challenging scene/chapter to write and why?
- How did you first get published?
- What’s some advice you can offer to other writers?
What questions would you ask any author if you had the chance?

We returned home this past weekend. The kitties were very happy to see us and as much as I love the beach, its always nice to be in my own home with my own stuff and my own bed and pillows.
This week has been so incredibly rainy. It has rained every day Monday-today. Monday (or was it Tuesday?) we had a tornado warning and a funnel cloud was spotted over the lake I live near and mention from time to time on here. Scary! Here are some images captured of it:

I’m the same as you a listener rather than one to ask questions 😊 We had a storm this week & somewhere round the corner from me got struck by lightening which was scary. Hope you have a great week 💕
That same day, I was looking out if my window and there was a bolt of lightening that came down and it looked like the type that would split a tree or something. Weather is always awe-inspiring
Oh my, that cloud looks scary! I’ve done a few author interviews for my blog and one question I always ask is: are you a plotter or a pantser, do you plan the plot before you start or do you go wherever the plot takes you, flying by the seat of your pants? I’ve had authors answer they’re a pantser while I would have sworn the plot was meticulously planned, and vice versa, it makes for really interesting answers.
That’s a good question!
I always find it interesting to know what inspired author to write the book and what advice they would give to authors.
Me too!
I have one or two questions I always ask, but the rest are always geared specifically to each book.
I love learning more about particular books too!
Those are good questions. I would be very wary of the clouds too. We had 3 weeks of rain before this week and I’m just so over rain. Have a great weekend!
It’s been so wet lately. I want to see the sun!
Those funnel clouds are scary! Glad you all stayed safe.
That was uncomfortably close to me. So glad it didn’t come closer.
I used to do a lot of author interviews when I first started blogging years ago and always researched them beforehand. My questions were specific to the person but a common one was what was the defining moment where she/he decided to go all in and pursue writing. I found, in most situations, that there was that kind of moment and the answers told me much more about the person.
That’s a good question!
I would ask them all…. would you write a romantasy 🤣
that cloud looks mildly terrifying, glad you’re okay!!
I like to ask either specific questions about the books, or questions about the process. your questions are amazing, I feel like they’d lead to really interesting answers!! <3
Great questions.. Those are similar to what I would ask. Unless it’s Stephen King. I would probably ask him a bunch of really weird ones. 😅
That funnel cloud is scary, Tessa. I hope that’s well in the past now and the weather has improved. I’d also have a hard time thinking of a question for an author, although yours ended up being great. I think I’d want to know what was the top choice they made that contributed to their success. Maybe there isn’t one, but I think there are often pivotal events or choices that seem to change everything.
