The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book-related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blogs.

Which book character(s) do you identify with and why?
(submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

There are a few characters that I identify with:

- El from the Scholomance trilogy by Naomi Novik – El is a rebel without a cause until she finds a cause, and that’s an always state of being for me.
- Fable from the duology of the same name by Adrienne Young – I have reddish brown hair versus Fable’s red mane, but I totally have that stereotypical red-headed fiery temper and spirit just like Fable.
- Stephanie Plum from the series of the same name by Janet Evanovich – Stephanie reminds me of myself in my late teens and early twenties with all of her uncertainty about the future and how she just falls into things (which has always been me). Also, the Berg (where she lives) of Trenton, NJ, reminds me so much of my hometown in nearby Delaware, where everyone knows everyone else and many of us are related to one another.
Which character(s) do you identify with and why?

We all worked so hard on my shelves over the four-day weekend, and by “we all,” I mean both of my daughters (daughter #1 came home for the four-day weekend), my husband, and me. Friday night, we took the oak shelves out to the driveway and sanded them – each of us taking turns. Saturday – we took turns trying out the paint sprayer my husband got me for this project and changed the oak shelves into white shelves. Sunday, we did touch-ups and started moving my books from the third floor down to the first floor. Monday, we finished moving books, and by that night, I started loading the books on the shelves and finished doing that on Tuesday. And then I collapsed 🤣
The room still has some more transformations to go through. I got a white table I can use for photos that can sit in front of the shelves or just used for flatlays. I also have two comfy chairs coming from Wayfair. They will allow me to get the couch out of the way because it currently blocks my picture-taking. To take the pictures below, I had to sit backward on the couch (on my knees, of course).
I also have just started decorating the shelves, but I have more to do. My props are also on the third floor and need to make their way down to the first floor.

I love your bookshelves, you’ve all done amazing, hope you have a lovely weekend 💕💕
Thank you!
I love reading about strong, independent female characters.
They are the best ❤️
Well, I don’t know if I could pinpoint any characters that I totally identify with. Some, maybe in parts. Oh, those shelves look wonderful. I’m thinking I should paint out my dark shelves as well.
White shelves just have more versatility- especially for photos, I think.
The bookcases look fantastic. They will be great for Instagram and blogging photos, as well as just a beautiful area in your home. I identify with some aspects of my favorite book characters, but not all.
I’ve never done much with that room, so it’ll be nice to have it look nice but still be functional
Your shelves look fantastic. Enjoy seeing your books displayed so well
I love that the spine colors pop 😊
I would have chosen all 3 of your choices as well. I love how the bookshelves came out 😍 Have a great weekend!
Thank you!
Your bookshelves are awesome, Tessa! They’ll be perfect for Insta pics. I can’t name one specific character I’ve identified with, but it’s more of a type. Usually the snarky ones.
Definitely snarky ones!
What an intriguing question! I had to think about it for a bit but came back to the same character, Eve Dallas from the In Death series. I also have a little bit of Tracy Crosswhite from the series of the same name. I certainly don’t share their backstories but began my career in a field void of women, having to learn to navigate that territory, gain respect as a leader without alienating the men around me. I have the same sense of justice they have at their hearts and have great analytical instincts. I also share their tendency to keep their feelings private and close to the vest.
Thanks for sharing what’s going on with your new studio! I’m taking notes on how you’re approaching what you’re doing. You’ve given me some insights.
Have a great weekend!
That’s a wonderful answer! I love the characters you chose and why 💕
Love your shelves they look fabulous!
Thank you!
Oooh, I love your bookshelves! Absolutely stunning! And I noticed that you have your books color coordinated which only adds to how attractive everything appears.
I’d have to really stop and ponder characters I can relate to. Food for thought, LOL!
I love seeing white shelves arranged by color. It’s as satisfying as a box of 64 crayolas organized by color (which I did as a kid 😂)
🤣
The bookshelves look great, Tessa, and it’s so nice that you did it as a family.
That was definitely the fun part.
I’m a little rebel too. I can’t hear or tolerate wrong things especially when it concerns me. I explode when I’m pressured something I don’t want to do and then hate it when I’m being blamed for bad behavior for that. I don’t think I have come across a character that have these traits.
Love your shelf. We have put a study table with book shelves on wall in new house and both are black
That could create interesting photos too.
Your shelves look amazing, Tessa. Great job, all of you.
