What are your thoughts on “happily ever after” endings?

My Answer:

“Happily ever after” endings can bring a sense of closure and satisfaction. I love the sense of hope and fulfillment that allows me to escape into a world where everything turns out for the best.
However, I also know that it’s important to recognize that life is not always as perfect as these endings make it seem. The choice between a “happily ever after” ending and a more authentic one depends on the story being told and the impact the author wants to achieve. But I do love a happily ever after ending!

I’ve still been fine tuning how my bookshelves are set-up and decorated, and my chairs did come in this week so I was able to move the couch out of the way. Yay!
If you’re wondering why I need chairs to move the couch, well…that’s the room where my daughter (#2 and #1 when she’s home) hangs out when she’s not working or sleeping and she loves playing video games. So she needs seating that faces the tv and is close enough that the controller cord can easily reach (even though she only needs a cord when the controller is charging because it’s wireless). The chair had to be big enough for her to sit with her legs up too. She has very exacting standards. 😂

I love a happy ending or at least closure at the end of a book otherwise it can leave me unsettled 😂 Hope you have a lovely weekend 💕
I agree. I do love a HEA 😊
I totally agree about HEA endings and realistic ones. It’s like films isn’t it, when ‘Hollywood’ endings are too much sometimes! 😂
Oh, gosh – yes!
I do love a happy ending but I hate it when things get too predictable so it’s nice when the happy ending isn’t too obvious at the start.
That’s a very good point!
I always enjoy happy endings but more into satisfying endings. Happy weekend!
I know a lot of people who like a more realistic ending.
As long as the ending works out, in line with the book, I’m okay with it, as long as it’s satisfying. Do you have a place for the couch to accommodate the chairs, or is it musical furniture?
I do! It’s just not facing the TV – it’s perpendicular to it instead, so it’s more facing the bookshelves and then the chairs are swivel chairs and are on either side of the bookcases, making one close enough and the other can be moved when Taylor’s home if they want to play video games together.
I also wrote a post on this topic. It will go up on my blog tomorrow!
I’ll be in the lookout for it!
I can’t wait to see how your room turns out and your daughters are lovely💜💜💜
HEA – If I pick up a book that’s categorized as romance there’d better be an HEA! I just don’t want it to be too predictable and there needs to be some other layers to the story. I want to feel something. In other genres, I like it when I’m surprised I get one!
Your daughters are beautiful, Tessa! Not every ending has to be a HEA, but if it’s hopeful or makes sense for the characters I’m happy with it.
I feel your answer was perfect! I completely agree with it. It really depends with what works for the story. Sure it’s nice to have a happy ending but sometimes the sadder ending works more.
I like a happy ending, but sometimes it isn’t the right ending for the story.
I agree about the happily ever afters. I love them, unless they just don’t work in the book.
Chiming in late, as usual, Tessa. I love HEA endings. Maybe it is because there is so much negative in the world and on the news, but when I close a book, I want to be smiling as much as possible. I agree that not all books can end this way, but a hopeful ending is preferable than one that leaves me sobbing.
