Let’s Discuss Reading Routines plus my weekly updates

Do you have a routine for getting ready to read?

(submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

My Answer:

My routine is to pick up my Kindle or a physical book, open it, and start reading. I do make sure I have a cup of water beside me and my glasses should be on my face or else I have to go find them 😂 but that’s about it. Have book will read!

Do you have a routine for getting ready to read?

We celebrated daughter #1’s birthday last weekend. It’s always nice to have her home and we did dinner out, gifts, and cake. Of course the plants I had ordered her for her new apartment arrived (at her apartment) just after she left to come home for the weekend. But, I’m happy to report the plants did fine packaged until Monday night / Tuesday morning when she could go get them and unpack them. She’ll be coming home for a night again this weekend because a childhood friend invited her to a Pentatonix concert nearby. Busy times here with Taylor coming home two weekends in a row.

I don’t have a routine and I think it’s due to having too much on my plate. Happy Birthday to your daughter! My favorite singer, Lauren Alaina, is opening for Pentatonix this tour. I hope your daughter enjoys the concert.

I hope she does too. She’s there right now and they started by tailgating their dinner – which my daughter was like – what? It’s too hot and her friend was like but that’s what I always do when I go to a concert – so she acquiesced but boy it’s hot out there.

Maybe it will cool down some in the evening. At least I hope do.

Hmm I don’t really have a routine to get ready to read as I’m reading all the time, whenever I can basically. 😂

      Exactly! Me too!

I’m the same, just make sure I have a drink & start 😂 I’m glad your daughter had a nice birthday and the plants arrived safely, have a lovely weekend 😊

Happy bday to your daughter, glad the plants survived! I don’t have a routine, if I have time, I pick up a book!

    1. Tessa Pulyer Avatar

Exactly! A routine would be too time consuming.

Routine????? Don’t people just pick up a book and read? Lovely to have family time with your daughter and glad that the plants survived.

That’s what I was thinking too. I don’t even know what would be part of a reading routine.🤷‍♀️

I actually have a morning routine! I wake really, really early. Take this morning. I fell asleep around 9:00 pm last night so I was up before the chickens. I put my headphones on and listened to the crazy new Jewell book for two straight hours (took a break a few minutes ago before I knock off the last hour). I take my morning walk around 5:30 ~ 6:00 am so that’s another 30 minutes of listening. Depending on what true crime segment is airing on Oxygen, I may watch that or listen again until 7:00 am. I’ll resume after 9:00 am. The rest of the day is unstructured.

Congrats on have daughter #1 home! Have a great weekend.

That Jewell book is so crazy!!! I’m glad I decided to do a read/listen to it. It’s an awesome audio book!

Plants always make a house feel like a home. Have a great weekend!

I was surprised she wanted any but I got her a few pet friendly ones. Her cat likes to mess with plants.

They do! I love the quality of Easy Plants. I’ve got a bunch and they all are great.

LOL! I love your answer, Tessa. It is pretty much exactly like mine.
And your daughter’s plants look lovely. Plants add so much to a room!

    1. Tessa Pulyer Avatar

Plant’s definitely do. I was surprised when she asked me to get her some. But they look so good!

Happy birthday to your daughter! Sounds like a nice celebration and weekend 🙂 I do kind of have a routine for reading because I only read on the way to work or when I get home from work or before bed. But as much as possible and as much as my mood lets me: have book will read!

    1. Tessa Pulyer Avatar

I could see where that would make a difference.

No routine here, either – just pick up my Kindle whenever I have some time (or listen to my audiobook while doing chores). Happy birthday to your daughter!

    1. Tessa Pulyer Avatar

I have never had a routine – it’s just a do when I can kind of thing

My routine is running a hot bubble bath, shutting the door, and having some me time.

    1. Tessa Pulyer Avatar

      Sounds very relaxing!

        It is.

I pick up book and start reading it but I keep my pen, notebook and sticky flags (if it’s a physical book) ready to take notes or annotate book.

“Have book will read” is a great motto, Tessa. It wraps up my approach too. I listen to books a lot in the car, which is probably where I do most of my reading – at minimum a book a week. Happy Belated Birthday to your daughter. How fun to have her over (and then send her off to her own home – the best of both worlds. 😀

It’s so nice that you have had your daughter two weekends in a row. I would love to see mine more, but she is too far away. I have no routine. I read when I want and where I want. I do always have water by my side as well. I hope you had a great week, Tessa.
