Have you ever stayed up late reading a book?

My Answer:
Oh, definitely – though more often I wake up in the middle of the night and read until I get tired enough to fall back asleep. I’ve never ever been a great sleeper, and reading has always helped me fall back to sleep.

I remember when I was young (2nd grade) I woke up in the middle of the night and wanted to read. But I was afraid if I turned my light on my parents might notice and come tell me to turn it out and go back to sleep. I had seen a tv show where the kids used a flashlight under the covers to read without getting caught. I didn’t have a flashlight, though, so I did the next best thing – I put my lamp under the covers with me. It all would have been fine except by doing that, I managed to burn a hole in the blanked and melt the plastic components of the lamp. I would have gotten in less trouble if I had just turned on the lamp and gotten caught that way 😂
Do you stay up late reading?

It’s been an uneventful week, and I’m not complaining. I always love the peace and quiet that go along with that.
If you all haven’t heard, on October 13th on Apple TV, Lessons in Chemistry will debut. That was my favorite book last year, though, I have to admit, I’m skeptical of a screen adaptation. But you never know.

I try to read late sometimes but end up falling asleep 😂 Hope you have a great weekend 💕
Often! sometimes stayed up all night. I so wish for uneventful week these days. There has been a big family drama and now my in-laws are coming to live with us, and we don’t know how long they will stay. 😪
Glad you’re having a nice quiet week! I rarely stay up late and read it has to be a really good book to do that! I definitely did it before I got married many years ago, but my husband is such a light sleeper that I wouldn’t get away with it nowadays!😂
As a kid, I did use a flashlight and I was always afraid I’d set the sheets on fire when the flashlight got hot but unlike you I never burned anything 😂 I have to read and/or listen to an audiobook before bed or it takes me ages to fall asleep. And like you, I’m not the best sleeper so when I wake up in the middle of the night and find myself wide awake I listen to an audiobook to stop myself from overthinking literally everything 😄
I have stayed up late to finish a book more times than I can remember and I certainly remember reading in bed with a torch when I was a child. I don’t do it so much now as I can’t cope well with the late nights!
I’ve stayed up late reading more times than I can count. I’m also not a good sleeper and keep my Kindle right beside me. Glad you had an uneventful week, Tessa!
I wasn’t a reader when I was younger so I never stayed up late then too read but I’m making up for it as an adult. Every weekend from Thursday to Saturday I stay up until at least midnight reading sometimes later.
I definitely stay up late when I have like an hour left and the book is really good haha.
Okay, that’s quite a funny story, Tessa💜 I used to read late at night in bed, which is why I still use the black background while reading on my iPad Air. But these days, I stay up late with my headphones on in the TV room now that hubby keeps late hours and watches stuff I don’t (works for both of us). Back in the day, I’d stay up until 3:00 am, then download the next book in the series from the library! Yeah, that was the In Death series.
Thanks for the heads up about Lessons in Chemistry. I’ll try and get that read this month.
Thinking back, I don’t remember reading in the middle of the night as a kid which is pretty weird because I was always reading.
I do stay up way too late reading at times when I simply can’t put a book down. And on occasion, I’ve switched on my Kindle if I wake up and can’t fall back asleep.
I had to chuckle about your lamp under the blankets story! 🤣
I used to love reading late in the night, but I can’t anymore. I have to have an unusual amount of sleep to function.
I don’t mind reading at night, but I don’t get far because I always all asleep.
I have done this a few times as an adult to stay up and read a book because I just had to know what was going to happen!
I’ve stayed up to read/finish a book a few times, but it nearly always seems to be when I need to get up early the next morning😅.
