Top Ten Tuesday | Love Freebie (in honor of Valentine’s Day tomorrow)

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is a Love Freebie (in honor of Valentine’s Day tomorrow). I chose a stack of romances that I read in the last year. I have some Romantic Suspense, Romantic Fantasy, Romcoms, and one that’s a more contemporary story. I consider them all good recs for the season.

Romantic Suspense

  • The Newcomer by Mary Kay Andrews
  • Recovery Agent by Janet Evanovich (this story is not labeled as romantic suspense, but it focuses on a couple who were married – and there is a strong potential second chances element with this Romancing the Stone type story)
  • Hello, Summer by Mary Kay Andrews (Andrews writes some wonderful romantic suspense stories)
  • (not shown) Identity by Nora Roberts is another excellent romantic suspense

Romantic Fantasy

  • (not shown) I meant to put my copy of Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros in the pile and forgot. But if you haven’t read that and you enjoy Romantic Fantasy – you need to
  • Inheritance by Nora Roberts
  • Anatomy: A Love Story & Immortality: A Love Story by Dana Schwartz
  • Hunt on Dark Waters by Katee Robert (this one is wild and very steamy, and I could see where it might not appeal to everyone, but I enjoyed the craziness of the story.)

RomComs/Contemporary Romance

  • Guy’s Girl by Emma Noyes (this story covers eating disorders in such a personal manner that I highly recommend)
  • Love Interest by Clare Gilmore (enemies-to-lovers workplace story)
  • Not Your Ex’s Hexes by April Asher (an enemies-to-lovers witchy romcom)
  • Book Lovers by Emily Henry (a smart bookish romcom – enemies to lovers)

Do you have any romance recommendations?

It was such a great read. I let someone borrow it and they returned it but it’s still sitting in my car 🤦🏻‍♀️. I couldn’t believe I forgot to go get it for the picture.

    I love Nora Roberts.

I really like how you’ve segmented your list by sub genres! From my 2023 reading list: True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren, Whiskey Beach by Nora Roberts, Crazy Stupid Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams and A Little Ray of Sunshine by Kristan Higgins. Of course, Inheritance and Book Lovers were on my list, too.

    A nice collection, Tessa! 🙂

There are a few older Nora Roberts books that I absolutely love. My favorite is Inner Harbor, but I also really enjoyed Northern Lights, Blood Brothers, and Midnight Bayou. I still have my original paperback copies. Happy-almost-Valentine’s Day!

Nora Roberts is the best! I’ve read so many books of hers over the years.

Fourth Wing is the only one I’ve read on here, but it’s nice to know you loved all of the others.

Of all these, I’ve only read the two Anatomy books, and they were both fabulous. I have Fourth Wing waiting.

I can’t wait until you read Fourth Wing!

I don’t particularly care for romance, but if it’s well done and not the primary plot, I do enjoy a good romantasy. :-) Based on your recommendation I have Fourth Wing in my wish list. And I can’t wait to start the series. I’ll have to see if the library has it. Happy Valentine’s Day!

You must read it! I’ll be curious to see your thoughts on it.

I shared my favorite romance reads of 2023 today. I never thought about listing ones that may not be strictly romance.

I love the way you put your list together, Tessa. I have read a few of these, but will be adding a few more. Fourth Wing has been on my list for awhile, since it came out, and I need to get to it, so thanks for the reminder.

      It’s quite a ride of a story!

Book Lovers!! <3 I love this idea and should have done this!! Haha. I might do this later on, if that’s okay! I just read Happy Place by Emily Henry and finished it today. Sometimes you just need some romances!!

      Of course it’s okay!
