Just Life

Finally, I had a good week in 2024. The scamming dentist contacted our lawyer this week and said, “of course, they would be happy to payback the money.” Which begs the question – then why did you have to be threatened with legal action for fraud to agree to give the money back that was never yours to begin with? We are still a little weary and will be until the money is actually returned to the lender, though they said they would do it by March 1. Also, daughter #1’s car has been repaired and is ready for her to pick it up – so that saga is also over. Yay!

Taylor (daughter #1) came home this weekend to take all of us (including daughter #2) to Dancing With The Stars Live Tour. (See below). It was nice to have her home this weekend.

Otherwise, everything has been pretty quiet. The Center (work) is busy with grant applications, so I’ve been helping where I can toward that – which mostly just means compiling and providing data. Other than that – I’ve just been reading and reading some more.

So, that was my week – how was yours?

Books in my Mail Box and Inbox

The first two books are physical books I received this week. I had another physical book I should have gotten but it was sent to the a Post Office a few hours away (Greensboro) and never left. I tried contacting customer service and two people at that post office, but I have heard nothing back. Oh, well!

The rest of the books were NetGalley widgets that I took. I’m really curious about One of Our Kind – it’s an adult thriller by an author that made me ugly cry over a contemporary YA story she wrote.

What I Was Watching

Friday night by oldest daughter – Taylor – took us to see Dancing With the Stars Live Tour. It was interesting.

She got us seats in the nosebleed section. I haven’t sat in the nosebleed section since I was a teenager attending my first concert. I have claustrophobia, which is set off by being surrounded by people while indoors, and I am a bit of a seat snob, so that part of it was trying for me.

The audience was very deep in their fandom of the dance show. I didn’t realize that it had such a strong fan base. It was fascinating watching the opera glasses whipped out and women of a certain age ogling the male dancers. Also the phones!!! OMG! So many phones that just needed to be put away!

Lol, I love your description of your experience watching DWTS! Sounds like an interesting time. 😂 I’m glad to hear things are looking up more now! I hope you have a great week ahead 🙂

I should have filmed the audience. That would have been hilarious. When the couple in front of me pulled out their opera glasses, I thought I was going to lose it – I was giggling so much!

I’m so glad you’ve had a good week and a getting back that money, but what a scam! I had to Google ‘nosebleed section’ as I’ve never heard that expression before. We’d call it ‘the gods’ in theatres over in the UK, not sure what it would be called in stadiums. 😂 Hope you enjoy all those lovely books and have a great week!!

The dentist was a total scammer. I need to write some reviews and put them out there about that dental practice.

I didn’t even think of that being slang. “The gods” sounds much nicer than nose-bleed seats doesn’t it? 😂

It’s good to hear you had a good week finally after dealing with all you guys have been through. I hope you have another good week this week, Tessa!

Me too! 🤞I’m hoping it will be a quiet week and I’ll get a lot done.

Yay for the great outcome about that quack dentist! That really is great news. And, I’m with you about nosebleed seats…didn’t know I had an issue until I went to a Broadway production and had seats high up and I swear I thought I would fall onto the stage.

Lots of romance this week. Definitely checking out that Yoon book. Have a fantastic week💜

I got a little dizzy when I got to the seats. That happens sometimes but I think it’s my meds (they still have me on heart meds even though it’s working normally now) not the height 😂

So glad you had a great week! I thought DWTS was declining but I guess not! I haven’t watched it in a few years.

We were really surprised how packed it was. They are even coming back in April, I think.

Glad to hear life is looking up! And it sounds to me like the dentist, was either straightout lying (again), and trying to pretend nothing wrong had happened at all, or, when faced with the reality of a lawsuit and potential criminal charges, decided giving back the money suddenly looked like the much better option. There’s nothing like self-preservation after all.

That’s why we got the lawyer involved. Nobody says serious like a lawyer 😇

        😂 Yep!

I love DWTS and that’s so cool that you got to see it live.

It was my daughter’s Christmas gift to everyone. It was nice to go together as a family 🥰

I’m so glad the dentist thing is hopefully straightened out. Fingers crossed everything falls into place as anticipated.

I’ve only watch DWTS a few times but I know it has a huge fan base. Even with nosebleed seats, I’m sure it was a great time. What a wonderful gift from your daughter!

    1. Tessa Pulyer Avatar

The DWTS live show was much different than I would have ever expected. We all had some good laughs and the dancing was wonderful of course.

Glad everything is coming together now Tessa, may it continue xx

      Fingers-crossed! 🤞

So glad that you’ve had a good week at last and that you’re getting your money back. Fingers crossed that it arrives soon. I do wonder if anyone actually watches stuff now or do they look at everything through their phone?

    1. Tessa Pulyer Avatar

Through their phone. I get so frustrated with that. I just wanted to say put the phone down and be in the moment!

Congratulations on having got your money back from the dentist – but how disappointing they had to be threatened with legal action first:(. I went to see the live show of ‘Strictly Coming Dancing’ at the Millennium Stadium and was also up in the nosebleed section and yes – it was a bit disappointing at how little of the detail I could appreciate. We get spoiled by the close camerawork when watching it on TV. I would like to go again – but only if I could get seats a great deal closer. Have a great week.

I am pleased you had a good week with your daughter. I have a week off next week, saying that I will be helping look after my granddaughter while her mum is working. I want to do some baking with her from my new children’s cook book.

    1. Tessa Pulyer Avatar

That sounds like so much fun! I know you and your granddaughter will enjoy it 💕

      Thank you!

I hope the funds are forthcoming quickly.

It’s been a while since I’ve watched DWTS, I hope you enjoyed the show despite the nosebleed seats

Wishing you a happy reading week

Glad you’re getting things resolved with the dentist – what a scammer. Nice that you could spend time with both daughters!
