Top Ten Tuesday | Bookish Superpowers I Wish I Had

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is my top ten Bookish Superpowers I Wish I Had.

10. Book Recall – so that I never buy the same book multiple times again.

9. Book Transfiguration – to change every book into a signed special edition.

8. Speed Reading – be able to read faster and fit more books into my day.

7. Goo Gone Fingers – to be able to remove stickers off of covers without leaving adhesive

6. Expanding Shelves – to make shelves expand to hold more books without taking any more space.

5. Book World Portaling – be able to open a portal into any book world.

4. Time Travel – so I can shorten the time between books in a series.

3. Reading Invisibility – Go invisible while reading so no one bothers me.

2. Book Healer – be able to repair any problem with a book – a broken spine, a tear in a page, etc…

  1. Book Precognition – always know the perfect next book to read.

What’s a book/reading superpower that you would like to have?

Great list of superpowers. I definitely want to be able to remove the stickiness from the covers as well as have as much space as I want for my books.

Fab list! I’d like to have all of these especially the one about getting stickers off books perfectly! 😂

I love this list. Book healer is a great one!

I love how you’ve identified these superpowers! I had a few similar ones on my list too. Book World Portalling would be so cool but I’d definitely want to have the ability to stay safe from harm and not die in any bookish world cos otherwise I’d probs die in the first world I portal to, lol. 😂 Great list!

What a great list! Would love to get those pesky stickers off without leaving behind residue, for sure.

Oh, wow. I love the list, Tessa! There’s a short story in here somewhere. I’m especially fond of Speed Reading, Book World Portaling, Time Travel, and Book Precognition. That would be wonderful! Love this post.

Your list is amazing, Tessa💜 I simply would want what I want when I want it😏

Can I just take your list, LOL? EVERY thing you listed I would want to have. The speed reading is a huge one for me, and those annoying adhesive stickers should be banned!

    Book precognition would be great.

When I sat down to put the reel together for IG – I was like -What do I call this? And that’s where my crazy brain went 🤭

Goo Gone Fingers made me laugh! I love it!

Wouldn’t it be nice to always remove stickers cleanly? 😂

Goo Gone Fingers is a good one!

      Much needed!

Great list! What a nice twist on the whole “superpowers” concept!

I’ve found a good way to avoid buying the same book repeatedly by accident is to have a list on my phone of the ones I’m looking for. Or, in my case, a few different lists. (some in picture form, some in text). If it’s not on the list, it (usually) doesn’t get bought. Although there are a few exceptions that I keep in my head and never make it to the list. 😂. Nonetheless it has really reduced the number of duplicate copies I find when I do my periodic shelf culls.

      That’s a great idea!

I would love to have your superpower of reading so many books.

Love all of these, but I’d really like to have the reading invisibility power. Get bored in meetings? Read. Tired of talking to someone? Read. So many options!

    1. Tessa Pulyer Avatar

      That would be awesome!

Love all of these. Goo Gone fingers would be great, I absolutely hate stickers on books but moreso when they don’t come off cleanly.

      Me too!

Speed reading would be wonderful! Then I could actually get through my TBR.

This is a great list!! Book recall and speed reading would be fantastic!

  20. Carla Avatar

Great list Tessa. I never thought of the Time Travel angle, but that is perfect.

Goo Gone Fingers are a fabulous idea! I hate the sticker splodge that gets left behind, almost invisible but most definitely there!!
