Just Life
So last week I was helping host a golf fundraising event and it took all of last weekend to do the finishing touches, all of Monday for the event (what a long day) and the rest of the week I was just recuperating because I was completely wiped. I hadn’t expected to take any time off and then I thought just Sunday, etc… but now I’m recuperated and have returned.
The high last week was the success of the fund raiser but the low of last week was that four law enforcement (3 federal and 1 local) were killed and four law enforcement were injured when they were trying to serve a warrant. It was in the area of Charlotte that is hot for gang activity and crimes but, now that our daughter works with law enforcement and connects with officers on a daily basis, it did hit closer to home.
I’ll be posting reviews most days this week because of my break, but they are some very good books so I hope you get a chance to take a peek at them!
So, that was my week – how was yours?

Books in my Mailbox and Inbox
I’m still on a NetGalley widget ban. I currently have enough books to easily last me to the end of the year. And I want to enjoy them – they all sound so good!
In my inbox:
Lots, but I politely ignored them.

What I Was Watching
I didn’t have a chance to watch very much but a couple of shows/movies I’m interested in are Acapulco on Apple TV and The Idea of You on Prime. Has anyone seen either?

Welcome back 😊
Glad you’re back! My break has been due to being busy at work and I’m hoping to get some posting done today. Law enforcement officers need our prayers for sure. They put their lives on the line daily.
Glad you’re okay and welcome back! What did you think of The Idea of You? I saw a clip on YouTube, but I didn’t like the book so won’t be watching the film. :/
I was following that story on the news. What a tragedy. Those poor families.
Welcome back, Tessa! Congratulations on the successful fundraiser! So glad you got some time to rest as well. I’m so sorry about the law enforcers — that’s absolutely horrifying. I hope your daughter is and stays safe. 🥺
Glad you’re back and congratulations on the success of the fundraiser:). So sorry to hear of the killings:(. I’ve been haunted by the news story of a lovely 14 year old boy savagely stabbed on his way to school by some deranged murderer with a sword. I hope the coming week is a good one for you.
I used to call Charlotte home and those murders were a gut punch. Really sorry this happened to your community, Tessa. It also felt personal to me, too.
Glad to see you back and am oh, so jealous about that Kristan Higgins book! Have a wonderful week💜
I’m glad you’re rested and back to the business of reading and reviewing. I’m sorry about the loss of the officers. With a child in law enforcement, I can imagine the how scary that feels. :-( I hope your week is wonderful.
Glad the fundraiser was a success!!
Glad you’re back and feeling more refreshed x
Welcome back, Tessa. Congratulations on the success of your fundraiser golf tournament. I can see why you would have been wiped out. I saw that tragedy on the news up here, it is awful. I am also on the blog tour for The Summer Swap but don’t post until the 11th. Have a great week.
Glad you’re back, Tessa! That was such tragic news about the officers in Charlotte. I know it had to be upsetting for your daughter.
Welcome back and it’s great you’re okay. I keep seeing Ad of The Idea of You on Instagram. I haven’t read book but would like to watch movie.
