Every once in a while, a book comes along that feels like slipping into your favorite sweater—soft around the edges, a little magical, and absolutely comforting. That’s exactly the feeling I had while reading Never Ever After by Sue Lynn Tan.

This gorgeous collection returns us to the celestial world readers fell in love with in Daughter of the Moon Goddess and Heart of the Sun Warrior. It’s dreamy and romantic, full of myth and moonlight, and wrapped in the kind of storytelling that makes you want to linger on every page just a little longer.
What makes this book shine is the way it explores what comes after the happily ever after. These stories dig into untold moments, alternate paths, and emotional depths that feel both new and familiar. I loved spending more time with beloved characters, seeing their choices from fresh angles, and discovering little pockets of magic woven throughout each tale.
The writing is as lush as ever—sweeping landscapes, fierce heroines, star-kissed longing, and that signature Sue Lynn Tan blend of beauty and heartbreak. It’s the perfect read to cozy up with on a crisp fall afternoon, especially if you’re still not quite ready to leave this enchanting world behind.
If you adored the original duology, this collection is a lovely, heartfelt companion. And if you’re new to the series, consider this your sign to dive in.
QOTD:
Do you enjoy when authors revisit beloved worlds through short stories and alternate endings, or do you prefer to leave your favorites right where their happily-ever-afters ended?

I never see your posts anymore, what is happening?! But I have just seen this one!
I took a few months off. I lost my cat that I was very close to in September and I’ve just been having a tougher than usual time getting over it. I guess because I was so close to him and it was totally unexpected.
Oh Tessa, I’m so sorry. Sending hugs xx
I prefer reading the original. I am terrible when a book is made into a film, and they change important parts of the writing.
Me too!
