What am I reading next?
I’m starting If I Go Missing by Leslie Wolfe later today. When Bookouture sent me the blog tour sign up for this book, I quickly replied yes because I think it sounds very good!
Genre: Psychological Thriller
Pages: 345
Publisher: Bookouture
Publication Date: January 2, 2024
If you’re reading this, I’ve gone missing.
I close the binder I’ve been writing in, and walk into the living room. As I stare out of the window at your house next door, I think about all the things I stand to lose if someone comes for me. My handsome, loving husband, who has no idea what I’ve done. My family, who have supported me no matter what. This beautiful home near the ocean, where I thought I would be safe.
Everyone says that I’m paranoid, but I just think I’m prepared. My secrets have placed me in terrible danger.
So if the worst happens, this binder contains everything you’ll need to find me, hidden in a place only you could guess. You’ve always known me best of everyone, ever since we were girls. You’ll be able to put the pieces together and uncover the truth.
Only you can find me. But you’ll need to do it fast.
Because if you don’t, all your lies will come to light too…
From the no.1 Kindle and Amazon charts bestselling author of The Surgeon, comes an outrageously twisty and compelling psychological thriller that you simply won’t be able to put down! Perfect for fans of Shari Lapena, Gillian Flynn and Freida McFadden.
I just love the worlds that Allison Saft creates. I become enveloped into the beautiful words she uses to tell her tales – it’s simply as magical as the stories themselves and A Fragile Enchantment is no different. The words are beautiful – the story compelling – and I was a very happy reader.
Genre: Romantasy
Pages: 384
Publisher: St. Martin’s Press/Wednesday Books
Publication Date: January 2, 2024
In this romantic fantasy of manners from New York Times bestselling author Allison Saft, a magical dressmaker commissioned for a royal wedding finds herself embroiled in scandal when a gossip columnist draws attention to her undeniable chemistry with the groom.
Niamh Ó Conchobhair has never let herself long for more. The magic in her blood that lets her stitch emotions and memories into fabric is the same magic that will eventually kill her. Determined to spend the little time she has left guaranteeing a better life for her family, Niamh jumps at the chance to design the wardrobe for a royal wedding in the neighboring kingdom of Avaland.
But Avaland is far from the fairytale that she imagined. While young nobles attend candlelit balls and elegant garden parties, unrest brews amid the working class. The groom himself, Kit Carmine, is prickly, abrasive, and begrudgingly being dragged to the altar as a political pawn. But when Niamh and Kit grow closer, an unlikely friendship blossoms into something more—until an anonymous gossip columnist starts buzzing about their chemistry, promising to leave them alone only if Niamh helps to uncover the royal family’s secrets. The rot at the heart of Avaland runs deep, but exposing it could risk a future she never let herself dream of, and a love she never thought possible.
Transporting readers to a Regency England-inspired fantasy world, A Fragile Enchantment is a sweeping romance threaded with intrigue, unforgettable characters, and a love story for the ages.
I don’t remember the circumstances behind me getting Recipe for a Charmed Life by Rachel Linden but rereading the description today, I would chose it all over again. I love family stories, stories about food, and stories with a good dose of mystery and it sounds like this one is all that and maybe more.
Genre: Women’s Fiction
Pages: 352
Publisher: Berkley
Publication Date: January 9, 2024
After a day of unrivaled disappointments, a promising young chef finds every bite of food suddenly tastes bitter. To save her career, she travels to the Pacific Northwest to reconnect with her estranged mom, and discovers a family legacy she never suspected in this delicious novel from the bestselling author of The Magic of Lemon Drop Pie.
American chef Georgia May Jackson has one goal—to run her own restaurant in Paris. After a grueling decade working in Parisian kitchens, she is on the cusp of success. But in one disastrous night, Georgia loses her sous-chef position, her French boyfriend, and her sense of taste! Renowned for her refined palate and daring use of bold flavors to create remarkable dishes, Georgia is devastated to discover her culinary gift has simply…vanished.
When she receives a surprising invitation from her estranged mother, Georgia flees to a small island near Seattle hoping the visit will help her regain her spark in the kitchen. As she tentatively reconnects with her mom, a free-spirited hippie eager to make up for her past mistakes, Georgia realizes there is something about the enigmatic island she just cannot piece together. Good luck charms start appearing in the oddest places. Her neighbor is a puzzlingly antagonistic (and annoyingly handsome) oyster farmer. And her mom keeps hinting at a mysterious family legacy.
With the clock ticking and time running out to win her dream job in Paris, Georgia begins to unravel some astonishing secrets that make her wonder if the true recipe for a charmed life might look—and taste—very different than she ever imagined.
I love the sound of Recipe for a Charmed Life. Like you I love stories about food (possibly because I really can’t cook) and this one sounds really good.
I nearly downloaded A Fragile Enchantment, but I’ve been trying to whittle down my NG shelf. Still working on October books! I also love stories that involve food. Recipe For a Charmed Life sounds great.

I think so too! I hope it’s as good as it sounds.
I can see why you signed up for the blog tour, it sounds really good!
It was impossible to resist.
I’m reading the September house and next I’ll start the day of fallen night
That’s a spooky one. It sounded way too scary for me. Hope you enjoy!
Definitely creepy but somehow I don’t feel horror with books but i can already tell this will make amazing horror movie.
It was probably Carla who put Recipe for a Charmed Life Life on your radar, at least she was behind it for me😏
It does look good. I can’t wait to read it!
Fragile Enchantment is one I want to read and I *think* it’s going to be in a book box ♥️
Ahhh…a pretty edition 😍
I am nearly at the end of the book I talked about last week. As I get to know the characters, it is a little less jarring the POV changes so much.
That’s good and speaks to how well the characters are developed.
