A Winter Wonderland Week
This week has been a cozy whirlwind of books, blankets, and the biting chill of winter. I don’t know about you, but there’s something about snow on the ground that makes every book feel a little more magical. We had a dusting of snow mid-week—just enough to coat everything in a frosty layer and make the world feel like a snow globe.
The temps? Absolutely frigid. I’m talking the kind of cold that makes you want to burrito yourself in a blanket and refuse to emerge until spring. Thankfully, I had Monday off work, so I only had to brave the cold once for a single workday this week. It’s the little victories, right?
Current Read: Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros

On the bookish front, it’s been a stellar week. I’ve been diving into Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros, and let me tell you, this book has me in a chokehold. The plot, the characters, the tension—it’s everything I’ve been craving. Yarros has this incredible way of pulling you into her world and making you want to stay there forever. I’m not done yet, but I’m already bracing myself for a major book hangover when I finish.
Exciting Book Mail: New Releases

This week also brought some serious book mail excitement. Two new physical books arrived from publishers: Girl Falling by Hayley Scrivenor and Midnight Black by Mark Greaney. Just seeing those shiny covers in the mailbox made my day.
I’m especially curious about Girl Falling—it sounds like the perfect mix of mystery and drama. And then there’s Midnight Black, which I’m expecting to be an action-packed thrill ride. The stack on my nightstand is starting to look a little precarious, but that’s a problem for future me.
NetGalley ARCs: Early Access Reads

Oh, and let’s not forget about NetGalley! I snagged a few new ARCs (advance reader copies) this week, and I’m itching to dive in. There’s something about having early access to upcoming releases that makes me feel like I’m in on a big bookish secret. I’ll be sure to report back on the ones that knock my socks off.
Life Beyond Books
Life outside of books has been pretty chill—literally and figuratively. With the snow and the cold, it’s been a week of staying indoors, drinking way too much coffee, and trying to keep my toes warm. Honestly, it’s the perfect weather for reading marathons and daydreaming about spring. Here’s hoping next week brings slightly warmer temps…and maybe another dusting of snow for good measure.

Interesting title ”Girl Falling”, would love to see your review when you read it. I am reading Sleep by C.L Taylor. A young woman, involved in a car accident, which killed three people. She is being stalked, and escapes to a remote Scottish island, starting a new job. One of the guests wants her dead. I have read it before, and I know there is a twist at the end, but I cannot remember what. It has been cold here. Mainly rain though.
So glad that you’re enjoying Onyx Storm. the weather sounds perfect for curling up with a brilliant fantasy book.
Onyx Storm has me excited. I have Fourth Wing on my Kindle and just haven’t gotten to it. Thanks for the nudge. And glad you only had to brave the cold once. Stay warm and snuggly and Happy Reading!
It’s been cold here too but no snow…yet! We’re now on our second storm in a week, it’s getting old! Have a great reading week! ♥️
Lying by the pool today, I was chatting with one of my Florida friends who I turned on to audiobooks a couple of years ago. He told me I should check out Mark Greaney. I had never heard of him before. I’m glad you are enjoying Onyx Storm so much. I hope it warms up for you Tessa and that you have a great week.
I’ve had Fourth Wing waiting for over a year. My book club has threatened to kick me out if I don’t get to it soon, lol. Happy Reading, Tessa!
Our weather is a behaving very oddly at the moment. We’ve had little snow and it’s a lot warmer than usual. Don’t know if this is what we can look forward to for the rest of the winter or if we’re in for a huge shock soon. My copy of Onyx Storm is waiting for me. I have a few other books to get through first. But I’m almost vibrating with anticipation by now.
