Sunday Post: Weekend Getaway and Bookish News

Where I’ve Been (And Why I Missed Last Week’s Post)

Let’s just say last week ran away from me—in the best possible way. We took a long weekend trip to Charleston and Hilton Head Island, and between the mansion stay and beachside views, I didn’t open my laptop once. (And honestly? 10/10 recommend.)

Our Stay at Wentworth Mansion, Charleston

We started our trip in Charleston at the Wentworth Mansion, and it was absolutely dripping with historic charm. The red-brick exterior, wrought-iron details, and stately front steps already had me swooning—but stepping inside was like being transported to another era.

From the intricate woodwork to the stained glass panels, every corner felt like a scene out of a Southern Gothic novel. It’s the kind of place where you want to curl up with a mystery and a cup of tea… and maybe a monocle.

Switching Gears: Ocean Views in Hilton Head

After Charleston, we made our way to Hilton Head Island, where our room had a balcony that opened up to sweeping ocean views. Mornings were all about sipping coffee with the sound of waves in the background, and evenings? Pure magic. That cotton-candy sunset over the water is still living rent-free in my mind.

Bookish Catch-Up: New Reads and TBR Dreams

I’m easing back into real life now, and with it, my reading life too. I’ve received a fun stack of new books—both physical and digital from NetGalley—but I’ll admit, I’m still in the “look at all these pretty spines” phase.

One win? I finally read The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware, and I absolutely loved it. Twisty, tense, and exactly the kind of thriller I adore. Even better? I just got my hands on its sequel, The Woman in Suite 11, and I can’t wait to dive in.

Currently Abandoned: TV I Tried to Love

On the screen front, I gave Leverage: Redemption on Paramount a try… but my family couldn’t stop mocking it. Between the commentary and the collective eye rolls, I decided it might be best to save that one for a solo binge. Back to the book pile I go!

Let’s Chat: Your Turn!

So that’s my week in a nutshell—travel, books, and a little TV chaos. Now I want to hear from you:

What’s the best book you’ve read lately, or the next one you’re dying to get to?

Hello Tessa, I am pleased to hear you had a lovely trip away 😎 The best book I read recently was Rilla of Ingleside by L.M. Montgomery and I am really looking forward to reading The Cardinal by Alison Weir.
