Sunday Summary | Action Movies, Book Mail, and a Beach Villa?!

Happy Sunday, friends! It’s been a week over here — the kind of week where you blink and it’s suddenly the weekend again and you’re not quite sure how you got here. Let’s just say, life lately has been full of plot twists… and not just the ones in my books.

🎬 What I Watched

I squeezed in some movie time on Netflix and watched Carry On and Back in Action. Both were fast-paced, fun, and totally bingeable — and best of all, they passed the “no fast-forward” test. That’s rare for me when it comes to action flicks, but these two kept me hooked the entire time. Definitely recommend if you’re in the mood for something exciting but not too heavy.

📚 What I Read (or… collected)

Okay, confession time: the books have been rolling in lately and I do not have a solid system yet for organizing or tracking them. I mean, they’re all technically in my house… but could I list them all off for you? Not without a scavenger hunt.

Still, I wanted to share a few highlights because I’ve been so excited about these recent arrivals:

  • A mystery box from Berkley with four (!!) upcoming mystery releases for this summer.
  • A fantasy box from Berkley — also four books — and let me tell you, these covers are stunning.
  • A wild and wonderful haul from Gallery Books, full of perfect summer reads, including new titles from Ruth Ware and Christina Lauren (cue the squeals).

Now I just need a spreadsheet… or a time-turner.

🌴 What I Did

In probably the biggest news of the week — we bought a 3-bedroom villa on Hilton Head Island! 🎉🏖️ Yep, we’re officially under contract, and if everything goes according to plan, we’ll be closing this Friday. The turnaround has been crazy fast (3 weeks!!), and trying to line everything up before peak rental season has been a whole adventure in itself. Between paperwork, contractors, and scheduling, I’ve been more off-the-grid than usual — but for good reason.

Honestly, it still doesn’t feel real.

That’s it from me this week — between the book mail chaos and property paperwork, I’m running on caffeine and chaos over here. But I’m hoping next week brings a little more breathing room… and maybe a few quiet moments to crack open one of those new mysteries.

Tell me—what was the best thing you read or watched this week? I need more recs (because clearly I don’t have enough books already…)

Congrats on the villa, Tessa! If we bought one, Mike probably wouldn’t be seeing much of me, lol. I mentioned on my blog today that I started watching Shrinking on AppleTV+ at the urging of my youngest son.

Congrats on the villa, Tessa! It looks beautiful! What fun and just on time for the summer.

And thanks for the Netflix recommendation. I passed those on to the hubby and we’ll give them a try. Sounds like you had a good haul and I want to see those fantasy covers. Lol. Happy Reading!
